As their time at CMU draws to an end, many seniors probably are saying, "good riddance."

After all, it has been, for many, at least 16 years of schooling - more for the many seniors unable to graduate in four years.

That's a long time to take tests, write papers and listen to lectures.

But don't be so hasty to put CMU behind you; the real world is looming on the not-too-distant horizon, and everything that goes with it.

Tests will give way to performance reviews, papers to reports, lectures to meetings.

Try not to forget the many years of learning at CMU; it's prepared you for what's ahead.

And remember, just as the university has been here for you for your years as a student, it's the community that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Seek out other CMU alumni - they're out there, and they'll be willing to help you as you break out into the next chapter of life. Remember to help those alumni you run into as they start their journeys.

Be proud to say you're a Chippewa.

Maintain the friendships you forged while you were a student here. Remember your favorite professors and stay in touch with them. Remember your roommates and keep them a part of your life, if only by long distance.

Your time at Central is more than a series of classes and assignments to be forgotten. It's a range of experiences that will help you at every stage in your life. Keep them with you.

This university is more than an institution - it's people. People who had a stake and continue to have a stake in what you do with the rest of your life. They will help you succeed in the future, but it's up to you to use their resources.

Get your tuition's worth from your time at Central. Keep your alma mater with you.

Be the best you can be. Be better for your time here.

Good luck.
