Deromedi was officially recognized as a 2007 member of the National Football Hall of Fame at the Waldorf-Astoria.
Deromedi is the first Central Michigan representative to be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
He was honored along with 13 others Tuesday night, including Penn State coach Joe Paterno. Currently, there are only 173 coaches recognized by the Hall of Fame.
"When I found out I was going to be inducted, I was very humbled by the honor because of what the game of football has meant to me and because I will be recognized alongside people that have represented the game as coaches," Deromedi said in a press release. "I'm going to be part of an elite group of men that have been instrumental in the game, and it's an honor that I will always treasure."
Deromedi was joined in New York by current CMU head coach Butch Jones, members of his staff and Athletics Director Dave Heeke. Deromedi also will be recognized in July 2008 at the Hall of Fame in Ind.
