The Wesley Foundation, 1400 S. Washington St., is offering any interested student a parking permit for $75 per semester.
Students do not need to be a part of the Wesley Foundation in order to buy a parking pass.
Wesley Foundation Director Charlie Farnum said the parking lot is convenient.
"There are no long searches for a space, (and) there's an easy exit, he said. The exit line at certain times of day for the main commuter lot is very long."
Students with permits are allowed to park in the designated lot during daytime hours only. Farnum said he sold around 30 permits in the fall for 14 parking spaces.
The Wesley Foundation has sold student passes on and off for years, but recently began selling them again last fall.
Christ the King Lutheran Chapel, 1401 S. Washington St., offers its members free parking permits. The passes are given out annually and the students are allowed to park their cars there on the weekends.
The chapel gives out up to 30 passes each year, it depends on the need, Pastor Jonathon Bakker said.
The majority of the passes are given to students who live off campus.
CMU faculty and staff who attend the chapel are eligible for the passes, but Bakker said usually they have passes to other lots.
Since the chapel shares space with Central's parking lots, the CMU police generally deal with any cars parked in the spaces without valid and proper permits.
"For cars without parking passes, we put a note on their car explaining that these spots require a permit," Bakker said.
CMU Police Chief Stan Dinius said he is not aware of any problems regarding the parking permits given out by the Wesley Foundation and the Christ the King Lutheran Chapel.
Christ the King Lutheran Chapel has offered permits to its members for more than 10 years.
Students interested in obtaining a permit from the Wesley Foundation should e-mail Farnum at director@cmuwesley.net to make an appointment to sign up.
Students also can sign up at one of the weekly dinners at 6 p.m. on Sundays, evening worship at 8 p.m. Wednesdays or at the 7:30 p.m. Thursdays movie, all of which are free.
