EMU women move to 2-0 in MAC

Eastern Michigan 65, Toledo 59

Center Colleen Russell's 22 points and five rebounds helped the Eagles improve to 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference.

Guard Alyssa Pittman had 18 points and three assists. EMU had nine more points off of turnovers than Toledo. Guard Olivia Terry had 17 points and forward Amber Heistan had 12.


Ball State 84,Northern Illinois 78

Ball State (6-9, 2-0 MAC) put up 40 points in the paint en route to the win.

Guard Porchia Green led BSU with 20 points and eight rebounds. Forwards Julie Demuth and Lisa Rusche chipped in with 12 points each. Northern Illinois (4-11, 0-2 MAC) was led by forward Whitney Lowe, who finished with 24 points and seven rebounds.


Bowling Green 60,Ohio 45

Bowling Green accumulated more rebounds, assists and steals than Ohio in Saturday's game as the Falcons improved to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.

Forward Crystal Murdaugh led BGSU with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Lauren Prochaska had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Guards Lauren Kohn and Jennifer Poff, who scored 18 and 13 points, respectively, led Ohio (7-8, 0-2 MAC).


Miami 64, Kent State 59

Miami picked up its first MAC win of the season with the help of guard Amanda Jackson's 31 points.

Miami (9-7, 1-1 MAC) came back after being down two at halftime. Guard Ashley Hawkins finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Kent State (4-10, 1-1 MAC) was led by center Anna Kowalska's 20 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Stephanie Gibson finished with 10 points and guard Rachel Bennett finished with nine and four rebounds.


Buffalo 55, Akron 51

Buffalo joined the list of MAC teams at 2-0 with a victory Saturday against the Zips.

Heather Turner, who finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, led Buffalo (9-6). The Bulls outscored Akron 33-21 in the second half to make up for a eight-point first-half deficit. Akron (5-11, 0-2 MAC) was led by guard Keyla Snowden, who finished with 13 points and four rebounds.
