Editor's note: This is what happened this week in past years in CMU athletics.
Monday, Jan. 12, 1981
• The men's basketball team shot 50 percent in the second half to win against Ohio 64-58 on Jan. 10 in Rose Arena.
Forward James Koger had 14 points, six steals, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Chippewas. Point guard Melvin McLaughlin scored a career-high 29 points.
• The women's basketball team forced 30 turnovers in a 72-48 win against Toledo on Jan. 10 in Rose Arena.
Karen Waters and Julie Roberts led the Chippewas, scoring 16 points and eight points, respectively. The win brought the Chippewas back to the .500 mark (4-4 overall, 2-2 MAC).
Monday, Jan. 18, 1993
• The wrestling team beat Lake Superior State University 38-8 on Jan. 17 in Rose Arena.
After losing the opening 118-pound match, CMU won the next eight matches, including three pins. The win was CMU's fifth consecutive, moving its record to 6-4.
• The men's basketball team lost to Ball State on Jan. 16 in Muncie, Ind., 73-48.
Sander Scott and Torrey Mills, who scored 12 points and nine points, respectively led CMU (4-7, 1-3 MAC).
The Chippewas shot only 33 percent.
Monday, Jan. 17, 2000
• The men's basketball team ended its seven-game losing streak against Western Michigan on Jan. 15 in Rose Arena, 88-72.
CMU center Chad Pleiness led the Chippewas (4-10, 1-4 MAC) with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block. All but one of Central's 13 players scored in front of 4,800 people.
• The wrestling team split two duals during the weekend, beating Eastern Michigan 42-3 on Jan. 14 and losing to Michigan 21-15 on Jan. 16.
Ahmad Sanders (125 pounds) won both of his matches during the weekend, including a 3-2 victory against Mat Warner on Sunday.
Jordan Webster (133) and Phil Baroni (184) both had pins against Eastern Michigan.
