Student Government Association President Mike Zeig said he plans to oppose making April 24 a teaching day instead of the scheduled day off. "This isn't about students trying to get out of class; this is about students saying there needs to be a process ahead of time to deal with class cancellations," the Sterling Heights senior said.

Anything goes on the catwalk. The Organization for Black Unity hosted the eighth annual Hair and Fashion Extravaganza on Friday at Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium. Native American bones found in Flint

Three Native American Chippewa Tribe bands roamed Michigan back when America was known as "the New World." These bands were the Black River Band, Swan Creek Band and Saginaw Band, which are now all the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. An ancestral burial ground to one of these bands may have been discovered late last month in Flint during excavation for a building project.

Bovee University Center's Rotunda turned into a club and casino Saturday night. More than 100 people attended "Club Bovee" to enjoy live music, ice cream, drinks and Twister as part of Sibs Weekend. Many Greek volunteers helped keep order at the event. "The turnout (Saturday) was better than I expected," said Illinois senior Carla Poulard, activities coordinator.

Tyler Hilton relaxed backstage in Finch Fieldhouse, eating a salad while fans outside eagerly awaited his performance. But once he did take the stage, Hilton did not disappoint those waiting for him. The actor and musician played in front of about 1,300 people Saturday night as part of Sibs Weekend.
Ventriloquist caps bonding experience

More than 200 people watched comedian ventriloquist Lynn Trefzger change her voice to multiple characters on Sunday. "I don't like what mommy makes. She makes green stuff," Trefzger said in the voice of her youngest and newest dummy "Chloe." "I like what daddy makes," the dummy replied.
'Awe and Wonder' entertains and informs

It isn't every day that Central Michigan University hosts a concert featuring students performing with a sitar and tabla drums. But that is what happened Friday night in the Bovee University Center Auditorium. A crowd of about 130 people attended "Awe and Wonder: Sacred Music from Two Worlds," which was put on by the philosophy and religion department.
