Buffalo women roll past Toledo; Western Michigan loses at Miami

Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan also win

Buffalo 60, Toledo 45



Buffalo won its second straight game by defeating Toledo 60-45 Saturday.

The Bulls got off to an early lead with back-to-back 3-pointers by Stephanie Bennett and Jessica Fortman, which put UB up by two points. Toledo (10-11, 3-6 Mid-American Conference) followed up with an 8-0 run to take its largest lead of the game, 14-8, with 12 minutes, 43 seconds left in the half.

The Bulls (12-10, 5-4 MAC) only gave up 14 points in the second half and 45 total points, the second fewest they have allowed in a game this season.



Ball State 80, Akron 64



Ball State got back on the winning track Saturday by defeating Akron 80-64.

BSU (10-12, 6-3 MAC) jumped out to a 21-6 lead by scoring 15 unanswered points.

Senior forward Lisa Rusche scored a Ball State team-high 20 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. She achieved her fourth double-double of the season just 24 minutes into the game. Akron dropped to 7-16 overall and 2-7 in the MAC.

Akron hit just 33.3 percent (10-of-30) from the field in the first half and 12.5 percent (1-of-8) from 3-point range. The Zips were out-rebounded by a 28-9 margin in the first half as the highest rebounding Akron player had two rebounds in the first half.



Eastern Michigan 62, Ohio 56



Despite having three players in double figures, Ohio lost 62-56 to Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Ohio (13-9, 6-3 MAC) went into halftime leading 35-21. After the break, Eastern Michigan (12-9, 6-3 MAC) answered with a 20-7 run to pull within one point, 42-41, at the 9:20 mark. Back-to-back 3-pointers by EMU tied the game at 52 with 3:11 on the clock. With 2:25 left to play, Eastern Michigan took its first lead since the first half, 54-52.

Senior Lauren Kohn led Ohio with 17 points, while sophomore Jenny Poff and junior Chandra Myers had 14 and 12 points, respectively.
