Ohio, Akron keep pace with Kent State men

Kent State 82,
Northern Illinois 67
Five Kent State players scored in double figures and the team shot 52 percent from the field Saturday to beat Northern Illinois 82-67.
Rodriguez Sherman came off the bench to score 16 points and Al Fisher also scored 16 points, for KSU (19-5 overall, 8-2 Mid-American Conference), which led by as many as 27 points.
Darion Anderson had 15 points and Shaun Logan had 11 for the Northern Illinois (5-17, 2-8 MAC).
Ohio 57,
Western Michigan 54
Leon Williams scored Ohio's final seven points to lead the Bobcats past Western Michigan 57-54 on Saturday.
Williams had 26 points and 15 rebounds and hit a jump shot with three minutes remaining to tie the game at 52 for Ohio (16-7, 7-3 MAC). With 1:19 remaining, Williams hit a pair of foul shots for the lead before WMU's David Kool tied the game with a field goal with 52 seconds left.
Williams was fouled on a rebound and with 12 seconds left. He made both shots for a 57-54 lead and the win.
Akron 70,
Ball State 61
Nate Linhart scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday to lead Akron to its fourth consecutive win against Ball State, 70-61.
Akron (17-6, 7-3 MAC), which led 33-32 at halftime, out-rebounded Ball State 34-30 in the first half.
The Zips' bench outscored Ball State's (3-19, 2-8 MAC) 24-11 in the first half.
Buffalo 68,
Eastern Michigan 64
Buffalo's Calvin Betts and Byron Mulkey each had solid all-around games Sunday to lead the Bulls past Eastern Michigan.
Betts had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Mulkey had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Mulkey's jump shot with 48 seconds remaining turned out to be the winning shot for Buffalo (8-14, 2-8 MAC).
Jesse Bunkley hit five 3-pointers for 15 points to lead Eastern Michigan (8-14, 4-6 MAC).
Bowling Green 69,
Toledo 58
BGSU junior Nate Miller tied a career-high with 21 points Sunday as the Falcons improved to 11-11 overall and 6-4 in the MAC.
Tyrone Kent's 15 points led the Rockets, who dropped to 7-15 overall and 4-6 in the MAC.
