The Central Michigan University Promise tuition guarantee will no longer be offered to incoming students.
CMU's Board of Trustees voted unanimously Thursday afternoon to discontinue the plan, which set student tuition at a single rate for as many as five years.
Students already covered by the Promise would continue to pay their set rates and would be exempt from mandatory fees for the five years of the plan.
"Our recommendation is that we no longer make the CMU Promise tuition plan available to new students entering in fall 2008," said Barrie Wilkes, associate vice president of financial services and reporting.
Starting with the fall 2005 semester, the Promise will continue until the fall 2008 semester.

This might actually be a good thing for incoming students. If you take a look at tuition rates before the Promise, and compare them to now, they have gone up significantly. (Continued…)
