Two female CMU students suffered minor injuries Tuesday night when a car struck them at the Broomfield Road crossing between Rose Arena and the East Area Residence Halls.
Warren freshman Darlene Kaczmarek and Freeland freshman Cadence Mazany were returning from the men's basketball game between CMU and Kent State at Rose Arena at 8:55 p.m. when a Chevrolet Trailblazer swerved through the crossing and hit them, said Mount Pleasant Police Patrol Officer Jason Powell.
"(Kaczmarek and Mazany) were taken to Central Michigan Community Hospital to be evaluated," he said.
Eastpointe sophomore Martin Federle was driving the Trailblazer eastbound on Broomfield Road and could not stop when vehicles in front of him stopped at the cross light.
Federle swerved around the car and hit Kaczmarek and Mazany, Powell said.
Powell said the snow-covered road could have played a role in the accident.
"The car was driving a little too fast for road conditions," he said.
Federle did not suffer any injuries, Powell said.
The accident caused minor traffic delays as spectators coming from the game watched officials work the scene.

You should not list the driver of the car. This could cause problems with the persons work, educational and social life. Since the driver was not notified about the article it is wrong to include his name in it. (Continued…)
