The men's basketball team's six-game home winning streak ended Tuesday night against Kent State at Rose Arena.
Junior guard Al Fisher poured in a career-high 28 points and seven assists for KSU in the 79-66 win. Fisher lead the team in both categories.
"He is just getting better and better as the season goes on," said KSU coach Jim Christian.
With 14 points in the second half, Fisher has scored double-digits in the second half of nine games for KSU, including seven of the team's last eight games.
Fisher also contributed a game-high 36 minutes for KSU.
"His penetration was key for us in the game," Christian said. "He found openings and drove the ball strong to the basket."
With Fisher's 28 total points, he became Kent State's season-leading point scorer with 338. He topped his previous career-high, a 21-point performance against Miami University earlier this season.
CMU sophomore guard Robbie Harman said Fisher's speed was what gave the team the most trouble on defense.
"It was tough. We knew he was good coming in," Harman said. "It is hard to simulate his speed in practice - he was faster than we thought."
On top of his scoring, Fisher also pulled down seven rebounds and hit 11-of-15 from the free throw line.
"We did a poor job keeping him in front of us on defense," said CMU coach Ernie Zeigler. "There were different stages in the game where we weren't tough enough and sharp enough to keep up with their energy."
Zeigler said Fisher energized KSU's offensive attack.
"He is a good player," said Zeigler. "He was the difference maker for them."
