"The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" (1974):
Legendary outdoorsman and beardsman Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty) is exiled into the great outdoors and learns how to cope and survive.

"Cast Away" (2000):
Federal Express Executive Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) is stranded on an island after his plane crash-lands into the ocean. While on the island, he learns about the outdoors, himself, and how to grow a great beard.

"Jaws" (1975):
The original summer blockbuster featured the mysterious man-eating shark, and the three men hunting him down for the safety of the local people. The story follows beardless Chief Brody (Roy Scheider), shark expert Hooper (the always-bearded Richard Dreyfuss) and salty sailor Quint (Robert Shaw, sporting legendary sideburns) in their battle against Steven Spielberg's epic underwater beast.

"300" (2006):
Zack Snyder's adaptation of the comic book retelling of the battle between the Spartans and Persians at Thermopylae is twice removed from historical accuracy. The one thing that remains consistent is that King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) had a ferocious, well-groomed beard.

10. Bob Ross:
The legendary TV host ("Happy Trees") and landscape painter had a great look going, but the quality of his beard is dependent on his beautiful afro.

9. Martin Van Buren:
Our eighth president, and the first president born in independent America, Van Buren's muttonchop sideburns may make him one of the most intimidating-looking leaders in American history.

8. Fidel Castro:
The recently-resigned Cuban dictator's beard was iconic, distinctively shaped, and unruly wild.

7. Conan O'Brien:
When "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" returned to the air without its writers during the Writers' Guild strike, he showed his solidarity by growing out a beard he refused to shave until the strike was resolved. The beard provided a new look to his distinctively square mug.
