The partner system consists of two gymnasts performing their regular routines. If either gymnast falls, both routines must be redone until they are each done correctly. The drill is designed to help the team feel the pressure of letting their teammates down, similar to a meet setting.

Sophomore Kyla Krygier believes the routine has helped the Chippewas' preparation for the pressure-packed meet this weekend.

"You have other people relying on you to do your job," she said. "If they can do it, then you can do it."

Yet Krygier said some members of the team still are struggling to master the drill.

"There'll be days when it takes all day," she said. "People get frustrated and they can't do their routines."

Reighard said CMU (2-8, 1-2 MAC) just needs to keep things simple.

"There's no magic other than you have to do what you practiced to do, and you have to complete gymnastics routines. We've had really good events but not good meets," Reighard said. "It's just a matter of coming out and hitting 24 straight. If we do that, we're where we want to be."
