Classes meet politics

Why is there a select few conservatives at CMU who seem to have such a problem with a teacher who is philosophically different from them? Suggestions of professors grading on some kind of a liberal curve pop up on this paper's Web site frequently. If your teacher tells you something you disagree with, prove them wrong.

NIU shooter a 'wolf' Normally I like to limit my letters to the discussion of one topic. However, given recent happenings here at Central Michigan and the unfortunate tragedy at Northern Illinois, I think I can break my rule. The idea for first thing I'd like to discuss came from a piece called "On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs" by LTC (RET) Dave Grossman.

What punishment should the suspect of the noose incident receive and do you think the name of the suspect and the punishment should be released to the public?

A better effort should have been made to fix broken lights

Campus officials constantly preach safety. Yet for nearly a month, a breakdown in communication has left Broomfield Road and Washington Street in the dark. Perhaps a powerless streetlight isn't as urgent as a home's power flow, but significantly darker roads render students even more vulnerable to those deplorable acts about which campus police so often warn us.

With a failing economy the government finds itself tangled up in sports

It's far from summertime, but the livin' seemed to be easy in Congress last week. The economy is teetering on the verge of recession. Families across the country are losing their homes. The law governing domestic spying is about to expire. The federal deficit is ballooning.
