In a game that featured nine ties and 14 lead changes, the women's basketball team lost 98-91 in overtime Saturday to Western Michigan in Kalamazoo.

After two 3-pointers by junior guard Angel Chan and freshman guard Shonda Long in overtime, CMU was held without a field goal the rest of the way. CMU had three turnovers in the extra time.

"(We had) a couple of mental mistakes in the end of the game and in overtime," Chan said. "It was nothing they did that caused us to lose the game."

Chan finished with a game-high 27 points and set a career-high for the second time this season.

The Broncos went up 82-80 when Molly Dwyer made 1-of-2 from the line with 10.6 seconds left in regulation.

The Chippewas inbounded the ball and beat a full-court press to get senior guard Candace Wilson the ball. Wilson sent the game into overtime on a jumper with 0.8 seconds left.

After being down 11 less than five minutes into the second half, Central came back and reversed its fortunes and led by as many as eight with 9:43 left.

"We weren't going to give up," Chan said. "We were fighting back one (point) at a time and chipped away at them slowly."

But guard Tiera DeLaHoussaye scored 10 of her 27 points in the rest of the way and gave WMU the lead back with a layup with 44 seconds left in regulation.

"DeLaHoussaye is a great player. She just kept driving and they were making them or going to the line," Chan said. "Also, we were missing our free throws at the other end."
