The New York Times ran a report Thursday insinuating Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., had an affair with a lobbyist. As a reporter, I think the personal lives of candidates should not be news, unless it in some way affects, their job performance. One of my journalistic inspirations, Helen Thomas, wrote of this in her book, "Watchdogs of Democracy.

Talking in class is rude
I can't even begin to tell you how sick I am of people having side conversations in class. They talk over the teacher and over other students who are nervously presenting in front of the class ... whatever. It's SO uncool! I mean, I can see asking a quick question or complementing someone's shoes during roll, but give me a break.

There are reasons lots of good legislation never happens. Hidden in the Higher Education Act (HR 4137) is one provision that brings up privacy concerns. It is a bad idea that would cost universities money and set a bad example for future Internet right cases.
Potholes
Citizens should file a complaint if they want repairs
With roads looking as craterous as a lunar surface, students may feel tempted to shrug their shoulders and simply try to avoid the potholes. Yet there is a more proactive solution that requires little additional effort. Drivers need to bring potholes to the city's attention.
