Isabella County Judge Mark H. Duthie sentenced Alan Corbin, 47, with up to 65 years in jail Friday at the Isabella County Courthouse.

Corbin, a former CMU physician assistant professor, was sentenced on five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and five counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct. He was found guilty Jan. 30 after admitting to molesting five children during his adulthood.

Corbin spoke before his sentencing and said hopefully his time in jail will bring some healing to the people involved.

"What I took I can't give back," he said.

The first count, which is first degree, and the sixth count that is second degree will be served consecutively. The first count calls for a minimum of 33 years and maximum of 50 years, while the sixth count adds between a seven-year minimum and a 15-year maximum sentence.

Counts two through five, which are first degree, will be served concurrently and call for a 25-year minimum and 50-year maximum. Counts seven through 10 are second degree; they will be served concurrently are a minimum of seven years with 15-year maximum.

Duthie said if he paroles, he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device the rest of his life.

Tammy Sian, the former guardian of one 8-year-old victim, cried as she took the stand before Corbin was sentenced.

Sian once considered Corbin a family friend.

"I'm hurt. I feel betrayed ... I don't want anyone else to be hurt by him," she said.

Corbin turned himself in to authorities on June 21, 2007 after being caught for an alleged assault that occurred two days prior. During a videotaped confession, Corbin admitted to molesting five children under the age of 13 during his adulthood. He admitted during that time he had a problem.
