Garden City freshman Brittany Mouzourakis said the Big Three funding does not help CMU.
"We really feel that funding is the focus CMU should be working on," she said. "Funding is really important."
According to the House Fiscal Agency, CMU was appropriated only 5.6 percent, or about $82 million, of the Higher Education budget for fiscal year 2006-07, while the U-M got 22.3 percent of the budget or $325,796,300.
CMU was ranked 12 out of the 15 Michigan public universities in dollars per Fiscal Year Equated Students in fiscal year 2006-07 with only $3,844 per student. In addition, CMU received only 43.6 percent of the FYES that Wayne State University received.
The big three universities received an average of $8,468 per FYES while the other 12 average $4520.42 in fiscal year 2006-2007.
Lake Orion sophomore Lauren Elias said the bill is fantastic.
"We are totally getting shafted," she said after reviewing the numbers.
