Graduating seniors have a chance to pre-order the essentials for their final walk at this year's Grad Fair.
The fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Bovee University Center.
Barry Waters, CMU Bookstore director, said he usually expects about 1,000 or more seniors.
"The Grad Fair is promoted for one simple reason - to take the pressure off of us at the bookstore," he said. "We'll be busy with buying textbooks back, so this helps us out a bunch."
Seniors attending the fair will save themselves money with deals such as a $10 discount from caps and gowns as well as 10 percent off of picture frames.
Graduation announcements and class rings also are available for purchase, and a professional photographer will be present to take classic photographs and send them directly to students with no obligation to buy them, Waters said.
There also is an additional incentive: Prizes are raffled off to students who check in at the door and fill out an information sheet.
"Each day we're giving away items such as a $100 gift card to the CMU Bookstore, and an 8-gigabyte iPod touch," Waters said.
Greenville senior Leeah Custer, who graduates in May, plans to attend the fair this week.
"I'm definitely getting my cap and gown, and I'm going to look to see if I want to buy the announcements," Custer said.
Representatives from Career Services, the Alumni Association and Graduate Studies also will be available to talk.
Students who don't attend the fair can still submit orders at cmubookstore.com. Orders begin this Thursday and can either be shipped directly or held until May 1.
