The One Republic and Fabolous concert Gentle Friday has been moved to Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

The 30,199-person capacity stadium has never been a concert venue. The change, administered by co-sponsors On the Fly Productions and Program Board, was decided upon earlier this week.

"We moved it because we've been trying to do a stadium show for the past three years," said Kyle VanDeventer, a Saginaw senior and Program Board president. "... We're not putting a cap on tickets, we're just letting anybody come," he said. "We could have a 15,000 person concert for all we know."

The event is still scheduled for April 25, and tickets remain $5 for students, staff and faculty members and $10 for the public.

VanDeventer said their contract mandates an outside concert, so the organizers were hoping for either Rose Pond or Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

"With MainStage in the past couple years, we couldn't really regulate tickets," he said. "Kelly/Shorts is a lot more refined and can have stations where we can take tickets."

VanDeventer said every concert in athletic facilities must be approved by the Athletic Department.

"The athletic department said it was OK," he said. "We just have to cover the field, so we don't have to damage anything."

VanDeventer said this is his last concert to program as president, so he is excited about the venue.
