Mount Pleasant offers plenty of options for students who wish to celebrate the holiday weekend.
The Mount Pleasant Christian Clergy Association will host a Good Friday service in Plachta Auditorium.
The service begins at 12:15 p.m. today and is open to individuals from a variety of religious backgrounds. Admission is open to the public and free of charge, though donations will be accepted.
"After expenses, the difference will go to the Women's Aid Service Inc.," said Ron Reid of Mount Pleasant Community Church, 1400 W. Broomfield Road. Twenty-one churches from the surrounding area will be involved with this service.
Other events offered include Grace Church's normal service at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
"We're going to the community Good Friday service on campus," said Tonya Steele, of Grace Church, 218 S. Main St.
The Wesley Foundation, 1400 S. Washington St., also will attend the Good Friday community service.
St. Mary's Church, 1405 S. Washington St., will have its own Good Friday service at 3 p.m. today. An Easter Vigil Mass also will take place at 8:30 p.m. Saturday with a Sunday Masses at 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m.
His House Christian Fellowship, 211 W. Broomfield Road, will offer services at 9:30 a.m. and again at 11:15 a.m.
"We will have our normal Sunday services," said Leslie Collins of His House Christian Fellowship.
