UNLV 71, Kent State 58
No. 9 Kent State, the Mid-American Conference's sole representative, only scored 10 points in the first half and went into halftime down 21 points to No. UNLV in Omaha. The 10-point half tied an NCAA Tournament low. KSU shot only 35.6 percent and committed 20 turnovers. UNLV shot more than 50 percent from the field and was led by Joe Darger's 18 points
Marquette 74,
Kentucky 66
Detroit native and Kentucky senior Joe Crawford scored 35 points, but No. 6 Marquette proved too much for the No. 11 Wildcats in Anaheim, Calif. Two 3-pointers from Crawford and teammate Ramel Bradley with less than one minute remaining cut the Golden Eagles' lead to two with 22 seconds remaining. But MU's Wesley Matthews hit eight free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Kansas 85,
Portland State 61
The Jayhawks jumped to a 13-3 lead in Omaha and never looked back behind Brandon Rush's 18 points. No. 1 KU had three dunks four minutes into the game and lead 49-26 at halftime.
Xavier 73, Georgia 61
Despite being down 35-26 at halftime, Xavier took advantage of Georgia's fatigue in the second half in Washington, D.C. The Bulldogs, which played four games in four days - two on Saturday - only shot five free throws. The Musketeers, meanwhile, went 27-for-33 from the free throw line. A 22-6 run allowed Xavier to take the lead in the second half.
