The baseball team's two first inning errors Tuesday were quickly forgotten in the second inning, as the Chippewas scored nine runs in their 16-8 win against Hillsdale at Theunissen Stadium. Senior first baseman Sean Hoorelbeke started the scoring with a single and also hit a two-run home run off Hillsdale starting right-hander Ben Turner.
Four gymnasts earn trip to NCAA regionals April 12

The gymnastics team's season is over, but four gymnasts have one meet left - and a chance for an individual national championship. CMU will be well represented at the NCAA Central Region Championships on April 12 as freshman Andrea de la Garza and sophomore Katie Simon both qualified for the meet in the all-around.

Dominating on the softball field is a family-shared talent for Brittini Merchant. The freshman shortstop is the third of four girls in her family to play softball on a collegiate level. Nicki Merchant, 26, played first base at Ferris State University and graduated in 2004.
All but two return next season

The youth of the gymnastics team showed throughout its 2008 season. But after a third-place finish Saturday at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Kent, Ohio, coach Jerry Reighard said the future is bright. The team has only two seniors graduating, and one of them, senior Jenna D'Alie, could possibly return for a fifth season.
