Ledtke said it was great to feel the New York experience as a performer and to realize what their life could be like if their careers lead them to the big city. Ledtke said she learned to focus her talents on quick, simple performances.

"I learned that less is more as far as performing in New York," she said.

Each agent receives a folder with the student's résumé, head shot, showcase program and a contact information form for the agent to fill out, Caldwell said.

At the end the agents fill out their information and then can check one of three boxes: Phone me, which is the best, send résumé or e-mail me. All five of the students received some contact information, Caldwell said.

Ittner and Ledtke both received a "phone me" from the same agent and were able to talk with him while in New York.

Ittner said the most exciting part was right before the performance. It was when everything they had been working on all semester finally came together.

"It was the couple moments before the showcase started that your adrenaline was up," she said. "You were nervous and excited."
