Sophomore Harman adjusts from basketball court to baseball team

Robbie Harman heard his name called for the starting lineup and rushed out of the team's huddle for the start of the game. Only this time, he wasn't on the basketball court. Harman, a Traverse City sophomore, is in his first season playing baseball after recently completing his second basketball season at CMU.

Seddon wins third MAC game

It looked as though Kari Seddon would not get her second straight shut out game as Ashley Strauss hit a line drive to the fence of centerfield in the top of the seventh inning. The sophomore pitcher could only watch as her defense relayed the ball to senior catcher Ellen Venker for the tag at the plate, denying Strauss the RBI.

Early runs help in U-M upset

Using some early offense, the Central Michigan baseball team won its seventh home game in the last nine against No. 22 Michigan on Wednesday . A five-run second inning and a strong relief performance from junior pitcher Chris Kupillas was all CMU needed in its 7-3 win at Theunissen Stadium.

Softball gets chance at redemption

CMU hosts defending MAC champion Eastern Michigan

Ali Pettit is excited to avenge the softball team's Mid-American Conference Tournament loss last season to Eastern Michigan with two games against the Eagles this weekend. "These are two huge games for us in the MAC," Pettit said. "We have been working on our game situations, so we can make sure that we take advantage of the little things that, in the end, make a huge difference.

Offensive linemen lead by example

A chance meeting with the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year last summer changed Joe McMahon's course. The CMU junior offensive lineman had spent two seasons at Joliet Community College in Joliet, Ill., before transferring to Iowa State for the 2007 spring semester.

Chippewas travel to Bowling Green to face undefeated Falcons

The baseball team will take the momentum from a two-game winning streak on the road this weekend when it faces Mid-American Conference East Division leader Bowling Green. The Chippewas have lost four of their first five conference games, but look to flip things around when they play single games today, Saturday and Sunday.

Outdoor season starts today

The men's track and field team will take on its first Mid-American Conference opponent today against Eastern Michigan at Bennett Track. After a disappointing finish to the indoor season, coach Jim Knapp hopes that as the weather warms up, so will his team.

Central starts at WMU Saturday

After the opening meet of the outdoor track season was canceled because of snow, the women's track and field team's season will begin Saturday. The team will compete against Western Michigan in the Compass Classic in Kalamazoo. The Chippewas were scheduled to open the season March 29 at the Toledo Invitational.

Chicago tournament up next

Defense will be key this weekend for the Central Michigan women's club lacrosse team. With a four-team, all-day tournament and only four reserves, Central looks to keep scores low Sunday in its three games in Chicago. CMU will play Xavier, the University of Chicago and Davenport University.
