The brothers of the Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity are hoping to make a difference on both a small and large scale.
The group will host a formal dinner at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Bovee University Center Rotunda Room.
This first annual event benefits the Feed the Children foundation, which delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to victims of famine, war, poverty or natural disaster in the United States and around the world.
"(We're) trying to get Greek Life to get outside the box and get a more worldly view," said Grand Rapids junior Ryan Barck.
Alpha Chi Rho is trying to take a more socially responsible stance, he said.
The event will begin with dinner followed by a video from the Feed the Children foundation.
The night will end with a performance from co-ed a cappella group Central Harmony.
Other Greeks said this event is a good break from normal fundraisers.
"It's a good break from the usual spaghetti dinner or pancake breakfast," said Grand Blanc freshman Brandi Adams, member of the sorority Alpha Gamma Delta. "We need to help out our fellow Greeks at their philanthropy events."
The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased from any Alpha Chi Rho member or at the door for $15.
Barck said the group is hoping to raise at least $500 through ticket sales and personal donations. Checks can be made out to Alpha Chi Rho.
