Comedian Jim Norton claims on his Web site that no subject is off-limits in his comedy.

Norton's fearless and brutally honest comedy is different from most of the comedians that have performed at Central Michigan University, said Chris Patterson, On the Fly music co-chair and Comstock Park sophomore.

Norton will perform at 8 p.m. Friday in Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium. It is the final comedy event On the Fly will host for the spring 2008 semester.

Norton is best known for television appearances on HBO's "Lucky Louie," "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" on Comedy Central, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Late Show with David Letterman."

He also co-hosts the talk radio program "The Opie and Anthony Show," airing on XM radio and syndicated for local broadcasts across the nation.

"Jim is pretty popular, and we wanted to bring a well known comedian to campus," Patterson said.

One of the best aspects of Norton's comedy is how relatable it is.

"Jim talks about relationships and things college students are going through," said Cristina D'Aristotile, On the Fly Public Relations chair and Sterling Heights senior.

Comedian Megan Mooney will open the show. Fans of Norton likely will enjoy Mooney's performance as well, D'Aristotle said.

"I have seen Megan perform," she said. "She is a really great fit for the type of comedy that Jim does."

According to her Web site, Mooney travels the country on comedy tours and has appeared on numerous television programs including her own special, "Comedy Central Presents, Megan Mooney."

"Jim and Megan have a lot of comedy experience and I think they will have a great show," Patterson said.

Tickets are available at the CMU Box Office and are free for students, faculty and staff. They are $5 for the public.
