A month ago, the presidential election looked like it was going to be a real nail-biter. John McCain and Barack Obama were in statistical dead heats in almost every battleground state. As the first week of October comes to a close, Obama has made gains in every battleground state (and some new states that weren't considered battlegrounds) as the national consciousness has revolved around our sick economy.

Medicinal marijuana can assist those suffering from chronic and debilitating illnesses. This is why voters should approve Proposal 1 on the Nov. 4 ballot - despite the risk that the law may proliferate illicit marijuana use. The proposal would legalize prescribed marijuana usage for patients with glaucoma, cancer, HIV and multiple sclerosis, among other conditions approved by the Department of Community Health.
