Five students hospitalized after fight at Delta Chi house

Six people taken into police custody Sunday morning

Five students were taken to the hospital and six people were in police custody after an incident at the Delta Chi fraternity house early Sunday morning. Delta Chi President and Essexville senior Adam Militello said four fraternity members and one female guest were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-threatening life injuries and were released later that morning.

Soccer coach DiTucci to resign

Heeke issues statement

Updated at 10 p.m. Tuesday. Women's soccer head coach Tony DiTucci likely will not return to the sidelines for CMU. DiTucci's intention to resign was discussed at a team meeting Tuesday morning, according to multiple sources. Assistant coach and acting head coach Tom Anagnost confirmed DiTucci's departure Tuesday and said he had returned home to New York.

Updated 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Four students were confirmed to be treated and released at Central Michigan Community Hospital early Sunday morning by CMCH Director of Marketing Jennifer White. The Mount Pleasant Police Department and other media said two people were treated for injuries at the hospital.

MPPD: No arrests made after fight at house on Main St.

Updated at 5 p.m. Monday No arrests have been made since an incident at a house in the 1000 block of South Main Street, according to a Mount Pleasant Police Department press release issued just before 6 p.m. Monday. Two people involved in the altercation were treated at Central Michigan Community Hospital and released, the document stated.

LeFevour expected for WMU game

Coach Butch Jones expects Dan LeFevour at 100 percent for the CMU football team's noon Saturday game against rival Western Michigan University. The junior starting quarterback suffered a right ankle injury in the second quarter of the team's 24-14 Homecoming win against Temple University and did not return in the second half.

Greg Baderschneider of Mount Pleasant Parks and Recreation died of a heart attack early Sunday evening while in Cadillac with his family. As the director of parks, buildings and grounds, he was the man behind the Borden Building revitalization project and a number of other park projects throughout the city.

University deliberating on whether to fund security for Horowitz speech

Event still scheduled for Tuesday

A conflict with charges for security at a presentation by David Horowitz had the event's status up in the air Monday. But Horowitz still is scheduled to visit campus Tuesday, though the university is reviewing whether Campus Conservatives will have to pay for security.

Auto industry given $25 million loan for hybrid production

The U.S. House of Representatives approved $25 million in loans last month to help auto industries produce advanced car batteries as well as work on gas-electric hybrid vehicles. The goal of the loan is not only to help stimulate the economy but to help protect the environment as well.
