Soccer coach DiTucci to resign

Women's soccer coach Tony DiTucci likely will not return to the sidelines for CMU. DiTucci's intention to resign was discussed at a team meeting Tuesday morning, according to multiple sources. Assistant coach and acting head coach Tom Anagnost confirmed DiTucci's departure Tuesday and said he had returned home to New York.

The field hockey team had its two-game win streak halted by a 5-2 loss to Michigan Tuesday in Ann Arbor. The Chippewas were peppered by 27 shots, 20 of which came on goal. CMU countered with only five shots - three on goal. Michigan jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, stashing away the first goal of the game when Kelly Fitzpatrick scored at the one-minute, 25-second mark of the first half.

Rohren utilizes successful flip-throw

Tom Anagnost sees flip-throwing as a weapon. The women's soccer team sees it as beneficial. Erica Rohren sees it as an accomplishment. Rohren, a senior midfielder, perfected what many consider an incredibly athletic and acrobatic skill. "It's a weapon," said Anagnost, the team's assistant coach and acting head coach.

Central faces first MAC East opponent Thursday

The volleyball team will see its first Mid-American Conference East Division action when it hosts Bowling Green at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rose Arena. Central struggled against East Division opponents last season, posting a 2-5 record. However, CMU, 1-0 this season, is coming of a victory against Kent State.

Shea steps up as leader in loss

The men's club soccer team always is looking for senior leadership. Despite a 2-0 loss against Michigan on Sunday, senior goalkeeper Colin Shea stepped up and gave just that. "Colin (Shea) played exceptional in goal and really kept us in the game with some amazing saves," said freshman Ryan Pimlott.

Men prepare for nation's best

Confidence is key for the men's cross country team as 21 of the nation's top 25 teams will join CMU to race at Pre-Nationals at Terre Haute, Ind., on Friday. Organizers will split the teams evenly today into either the blue or white race. Even with the amount of talent, Central refuses to believe it doesn't belong.
