No. 21 Central Michigan University had its second-highest score of the year, but failed to secure its sixth consecutive Mid-American Conference title, losing to host Kent State Saturday 196.375-196-275. Both the Golden Flashes and the Chippewas excelled on floor, with Kent State scoring a 49.325 and CMU earning a 49.35.Despite the heartbreak, the Chippewas still receive a Regional Championship bid.Head Coach Jerry Reighard set his sights on a 196.4 before the meet, which is exactly the score that was needed to win the title.“There are a lot of very positive things about this team and I am not going to dwell on this one day,” Reighard said.

Noonan returns, gymnastics beats BYU

In senior Taylor Noonan’s return to action, the Central Michigan University gymnastics team defeated Brigham Young University Friday night. Noonan notched a 9.9 and a 49.1 on her two beam rotations during the win. Her return raised CMU's beam score 1.4 points from its last meet. Noonan had been inactive since Jan.

Moraw earns MAC honor By Cody DeBona Staff ReporterAfter winning her fourth Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week honor, senior Halle Moraw has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.Moraw maintains a 3.48 GPA while pursuing a degree in Early Child Development and Learning. Moraw scored two career highs in last week’s Chippewa victory over Bowling Green State University.
