Softball earns weekend sweep of Eastern Michigan

With a 7-4 victory on Sunday afternoon, Central Michigan University softball secured a two-game weekend series sweep of Eastern Michigan University at Margo Jonker Stadium.The Chippewas are now 15-16 overall and 4-3 in Mid-American Conference play, and have won seven of their last eight games.With 16 games remaining, CMU is in fourth place in the MAC West Division.In a back and forth contest on Sunday, the Eagles scored the first run to go on top.

With a 4-3 loss at the hands of the University of Akron Zips, Central Michigan University's softball team saw its winning streak end at five games Sunday.CMU’s record drops to 13-16 overall and they currently sit at .500 in Mid-American Conference play with a 3-3 record.“We made some key mistakes defensively on some balls that we should’ve been able to make the plays on,” said Head Coach Margo Jonker.

Rentschler hits four home runs, softball sweeps doubleheader with Ohio

Sophomore first baseman Katelyn Rentschler hit four home runs Friday to lead the Central Michigan University softball team to a two-game series sweep against Ohio University.The Chippewas (12-15, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) hit three home runs in a 8-1 win to open the series and hammered six home runs in game two as CMU battered Ohio 14-3 in five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Knapp pitches in both games of doubleheader, softball wins both against Detroit

A pair of power pitching performances from sophomore Rachael Knapp secured a two-game sweep for the Central Michigan University softball team Wednesday against the Detroit Titans.The Chippewas battled through two high scoring performances, beating the Titans 7-1 in the first game and 8-7 in the second.“This will help us believe we can win games and that we have the players to get it done,” Head Coach Margo Jonker said.

Returning to Mount Pleasant to play at Margo Jonker Stadium for the first time this season was supposed to be a special occasion the Central Michigan University softball team.But the Chippewas dropped both games of their doubleheader to Ball State University by scores of 14-7 and 9-5 respectively, falling to 8-15 on the season and 0-2 in Mid-American Conference play.“It’s always good to come back home but it’s disappointing to me when we don’t play very well in front of our home fans,” Head Coach Margo Jonker said.
