The scene could not have been scripted better.

The CMU women’s basketball team was riding high about a week ago.

It had just beaten second-place Eastern Michigan in double overtime to extend its home winning streak to nine games and pull within a game of a first-round bye in the Mid-American Conference tournament.

A 18-0 second-half run was not enough for the CMU men’s basketball team Wednesday at Ball State.

The Chippewas lost 69-63 to the Cardinals and are now a game behind BSU in the Mid-American Conference West Division standings.

Leave the scoring to the smaller guys.

That is what most Mid-American Conference men’s basketball teams have done this season.
