Players feel out new regime as spring football begins

The CMU football team began spring practice on the heels of a bowl appearance and Mid-American Conference championship — like it has in several previous seasons.

But unlike recent years, where the players and coaching staff had little catching up to do, both sides had adjustments to make at the first two practices last week under new coach Dan Enos.

GMAC Bowl costs CMU $188,903

Central Michigan University and the Athletics Department spent $188,903 to send the football team to the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 6 in Mobile, Ala.

Total game costs were $561,133, which included lodging and transportation, but CMU received a $350,000 travel allocation from the Mid-American Conference and earned $22,230 in ticket sales, which helped offset the costs.

Schroeder quits football team; Enos says return is possible

Dan Enos knew he had some holes to fill when he was hired as CMU’s football coach Jan. 11.

Three record-setting cogs of the team’s offense — quarterback Dan LeFevour and wide receivers Bryan Anderson and Antonio Brown — departed for the NFL and graduation.
Now, he will be without another offensive weapon.

Enos adds a quarterback he is excited about

CMU football coach Dan Enos said he likes the prospects he has to replace Dan LeFevour at quarterback at Wednesday’s signing day press conference.

The CMU football team will have three quarterbacks on its roster going into spring practice in April. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Radcliff was the only quarterback on the roster last season to get any playing time besides LeFevour — he played sporadically in six games — and he will be joined by junior Derek Rinfenbury and redshirt freshman A.J. Westendorp in spring practice.
