UPDATE: Shorted power line to blame for Park Library outage, officials say


Steve Lawrence, associate vice president of Facilities Management, said the line that runs between the Music Building and the library shorted, causing the power to flicker and then shut off at about 9:15 p.m.

Student bikers looking toward new paths


Area bicyclists will soon have a new area to peddle.

Central Michigan University is adding a bike lane this summer on Franklin Street, from Preston Street to Bellows Street.

‘Green’ budget becoming recognizable on campus, paid through maintenance fees


It is not unreasonable to think rising energy costs would cause officials at large entities such as Central Michigan University to worry. But one factor has helped defray growing utility bills on campus: the concept of “going green.”

More Brooks Hall renovations completed over break


Brooks Hall went through another round of renovations costing $425,000 over winter break.

Temperature control and noise problems were the major issues tackled. Although there have not been any temperature problems in about a month, the new renovations will help in the long run, said Steve Lawrence, associate vice president of Facilities Management.

$1.5 million allocated for Brooks Hall repairs


Brooks Hall is receiving another $1.5 million for enovating and upgrading heating and cooling systems, control systems for heating and cooling, and remedying “noise issues” with already-installed equipment.

The Education and Human Services building was evacuated at about 1:30 p.m. today in suspicion of a gas leak.

CMU to try solar energy to heat SAC pool


Steve Lawrence, associate vice president of Facilities Management, said CMU purchased 50 solar panels earlier this year with plans to install them near the Student Activity Center.
