Some are fuming mad and seeing red over Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s proclamation to encourage Michiganders to eat healthy greens. Michigan’s hunter and meat community promptly retaliated to Granholm’s decision to make Saturday “Michigan Meatout Day,” saying it is demeaning to Michigan’s entire agricultural industry and proves her willingness to cater to special interest.

The Senate Appropriations Committee on Wednesday approved a 3.1 percent cut to state aid for public universities.
For Central Michigan University, that could mean a more than $2.5 million cut in state appropriations

Regardless of how you feel about Granholm’s politics and policies, it’s important to tune in and pay attention when the chief executive of our state is addressing her constituents because what she has to say directly affects you; especially as a student earning a degree.

A group of about 1,800 students are expected to protest Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s final State of the State address at 6:30 p.m. today at the State Capitol in Lansing.
The students are led by Warren freshman Ben Lazarus, who said the group is protesting the drop of the Michigan Promise Scholarship and a government unresponsive to the needs of its people.

Destinany Mobley knows first-hand how dangerous text messaging can be from behind the wheel.
The Greenville senior’s vehicle was struck last May and totaled by an unlicensed teenage driver, who she said admitted to texting while driving. Mobley’s vehicle rolled twice and hit an oak tree, resulting in $26,000 worth of damage.
