May 2010 commencement for graduate and undergraduate students is moving to Kelly/Shorts Stadium because of renovations and construction taking place at Rose Arena.
University officials decided that Kelly/Short’s 30,295 seats would do well for May 2010’s graduation. But the university needs to have a back up plan in case the weather isn’t cooperative.
University officials are looking for a place to hold spring commencement ceremonies.
Rose Arena is typically the location for the ceremonies, but planned renovations forced officials to seek another destination to send students off.
Students who think they will graduate in four years may have to think again. According to Central Michigan University’s Office of Institutional Research, 19 percent of freshmen who entered the university in 2004 graduated within four years. Of those who entered in 2002, 57 percent graduated within six years.
In order to receive their audits in time to schedule any missing classes during the spring semester, seniors should apply for May graduation by Sept. 15.
