Area police see ‘average’ amount of activity during St. Patrick’s Day


The steps in a field sobriety test might seem simple to some. But when the individual Central Michigan University Police Officer David Coffman suspected of drunk driving Wednesday night lifted his leg counting one-1,000, two-1,000, those steps were a challenge. The driver was arrested around 10 p.m. after a preliminary breathalyzer test and, for Coffman, St. Patrick’s Day had reached its peak.

Ypsilanti man charged with one count armed robbery; Date of preliminary hearing set


A 38-year-old Ypsilanti man was charged Wednesday after police say he robbed an East Pickard Road gas station Tuesday night. Shortly after 8 p.m., the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to an armed robbery at a Shell gas station, 5612 E. Pickard Road, in Union Township, where Jason Roy Stanley demanded money from the station clerk and left with an undisclosed amount. Stanley was charged with one count armed robbery and had bond set at $300,000.

Area police investigate two robberies Tuesday, search for suspects


Area police are investigating two robberies that occurred throughout Tuesday. According to Mount Pleasant police, a man held up National City bank, 409 N. Mission St., around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday with an unidentified weapon. Shortly after 8 p.m., the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a robbery at the Blodgett Shell gas station, 5612 E. Pickard Rd., in Union Township.
