Central Michigan University is out-funded per student by 11 other public universities despite having the fourth largest enrollment in Michigan.

As George Ross is poised to take over as University President, the editorial staff look back on Wilbur’s time as interim president.

Students continue to be denied information from the CMU administration. The suggestions for the 3, 6, 9 percent budget cuts should be shared with the entire campus community instead of being kept in secret.

Budget reduction suggestions and a formal establishment of the College of Medicine are topics slated for Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the President’s Conference Room at Bovee University Center.

A university budget reduction plan for the 2010-11 fiscal year was put into action Wednesday. Each budget center, or area that spends money, was asked to prepare a suggestion of budget cuts of 3, 6 and 9 percent by Feb. 8.

Interim University President Kathy Wilbur today said the university has initiated a budget reduction plan due next month.
