Sports Update: Volleyball advances to MAC semifinals


The volleyball team was able to repeat its sweep against Northern Illinois to advance to the semifinals in the Mid-American Conference tournament for the first time since 1996 Friday in Toledo.

“It was a big time match big time performance,” said coach Erik Olson. “We already knew each other so well and we played each other so recently that we knew exactly what they wanted to do and vice versa. But we were able to take advantage of it more.”

Volleyball faces NIU in MAC tourney


The CMU volleyball team gets a rematch of its final regular-season match today in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.

The Chippewas play Northern Illinois at 11 a.m. in the Seagate Center in Toledo.
The Chippewas swept NIU in their last meeting Nov. 14. The winner of today’s match advances to the semifinal match.

Sports Update: Harman leads men’s basketball in win


A strong defensive effort led the men’s basketball team against the University of Illinois-Chicago in a 67-48 victory Wednesday in Rose Arena.

CMU (2-1) held the Flames to just 26.9 shooting and outrebounded UIC 47-29.
