CMUPD reports gas leak outside Special Olympics building

Central Michigan University Police received a call approximately at 2:42 p.m. Thursday related to a gas leak on E. Campus Dr. and Bellows St., near the Special Olympics building.

Lt. Cameron Wassman said the building was evacuated shortly after CMUPD and the Mount Pleasant Fire Department arrived on-scene. The gas line was hit in the process of road and side-walk construction in the area.

DTE Energy Co., who owns the gas line, fixed the problem a few hours later.

No one was harmed in the incident.
