Field Hockey puts undefeated conference record on line against Miami (Ohio)

After an undefeated record to start Mid-American Conference play, CMU’s Field Hockey team hopes to continue its winning ways against Miami.

The Chippewas (4-8) will host the RedHawks (3-8) at 3 p.m. on Friday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.

The Chippewas enter the game unbeaten in Mid-American Conference competition, outscoring opponents six to three during that span.

Meanwhile, MU has let in a combined seven goals in their last two losses.

Leading the women will likely be senior Cayleigh Immelman, junior Kaysie Gregory and junior goalkeeper Sadie Reynolds.

All three have won MAC Player of the Week honors this season. Immelman and Gregory have combined for nine goals, and four assists this season during their largely successful campaign.

Miami is lead by senior Valentina Neira who has 18 points through 12 games. Joining her is junior Bea Dechant who is averaging a point per game.

Miami senior Shannon Regan is the reigning Defensive Player of the Week in the conference.

Miami has allowed a total of 17 goals in the first half of their 2014 games.

The RedHawks have beaten CMU three times in the past two seasons. They are 1-4 in road games this year.
