Crystal Bradford, Central Michigan University women's basketball’s star guard has been suspended one game for a violation of team rules, according to a press release issued by Athletic Communications Director Rob Wyman.

Bradford pled guilty to a misdemeanor traffic offense Friday in Isabella County Court, according to the Morning Sun.

The newspaper reports Bradford was arraigned on a charge of driving on a suspended license Nov. 25.

CMU released a statement on Bradford’s suspension minutes after the city courts had closed for the weekend.

“Crystal made a mistake and understands she has to accept the consequences of her actions,” Head Coach Sue Guevara said. “I support Crystal and I know she will learn from this experience.”

Dave Heeke, CMU athletic director, was also quoted in the release.

“We take these issues very seriously and I support Coach Guevara’s decision,” Heeke said. “It is important that we hold all our student-athletes to a high standard while also disciplining them fairly when there is an issue.”

This is the third time Bradford has been suspended during her CMU basketball career. Bradford was arrested on an OWI charge in October 2013. She was suspended the season opener against UMass that season.

Bradford scored 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the Chippewas Nov. 28 win against Oregon in Las Vegas.
