Strengthening the Safety Net grant being awarded to Mount Pleasant clinic

Blue Cross Blue Shield will be presenting the Strengthening the Safety Net grant at Isabella Citizens for Health Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. The clinic will be receiving $15,000 from Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The grant aims to help uninsured and underinsured people in Isabella County obtain health care. The additional funding will help provide support for the operations of Isabella Citizens for Health and assisting uninsured patients with coverage. 

Mark Cook, vice president of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will be speaking on behalf of the organization. Representative Kevin Cotter and medical director of Isabella Citizens for Health will also be giving remarks. 

The Strengthening the Safety Net grant has provided more than $10 million to support free medical clinics across Michigan since it was created in 2005. 

Isabella Citizens for Health is one of 53 Michigan clinics to be given the grant.
