Special edition patches made for graduate students in MAC
Football fans of the Mid-American Conference will notice a slight jersey change for some players.
In the upcoming season, there will be 55 players in the conference who have already earned bachelor's degrees — four of them are Chippewas.
The change on the jersey will be the patch the players wear just above the number near the right shoulder. The specific name for the patch is the “MAC Graduate Patch” according to mac-sports.
CMU has four graduate students on the team, Toledo has the most with 13.
The four CMU graduate students are:
OL Austin Doan
DB Josh Cox
QB Shane Morris
DB Darwyn Kelly
Kelly (Illinois) and Morris (Michigan) both come from the Big Ten Conference and will be in their first season with CMU.
CMU will open up the season against Rhode Island on Aug. 31 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN 3.
