Reopening of Warriner Hall uncertain

Warriner Hall will remain closed as abatement crews have expanded their work to include ductwork on the first, second and third floors and the mechanical room in the basement. It is unknown when the building will reopen.

Warriner Hall was closed on May 29 when elevated levels of asbestos were found in the air after crews working on waterlines noticed insulation and old pipes in an air duct in the building's crawl space.

Crews will continue their work Saturday and Sunday. Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services Barrie Wilkes said some of the ducts being cleaned are difficult to reach, which has lengthened the process.

Wilkes also said air quality within the building continues to test clean, with the latest tests being on Wednesday.
