With Pre-Nationals looming on Oct. 17, the Central Michigan cross country team held out its top runners at the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Short Course on Friday.

Head Coach Matt Kaczor held out seniors Nate Ghena, Silas Dekalita, junior Spencer Nousain and sophomore Joseph Emmanuel on the men’s side, and sophomore Kirsten Olling, seniors Kelly Schubert and Breanne Lesnar for the women.

Even with the top runners out, three Chippewas on both the men’s and women’s teams placed in the top 10.

Freshmen Samantha Allmacher (10:35) and Megan O’Neil (10:36) finished fourth and fifth followed by senior Alyssa Dyer (10:52), who finished in 10th in the women’s 3K.

On the men’s side, freshmen Luke Anderson (12:13) and Mark Beckman (12:36) finished fifth and ninth respectively and junior Casey Voison (12:29) finished seventh in the men’s 4K.

Head Coach Matt Kaczor was not available for comment.

The next meet for the Chippewas is Pre-Nationals on Oct. 17 in Louisville.
