Parts of Broomfield and Crawford roads will be closed until later today, after a pick up truck struck a power line near the intersection.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department and Mount Pleasant Fire Department responded to the scene at 8:23 a.m. The driver is believed to have hit the power line after being temporarily blinded by the sun.

Mount Pleasant Fire Chief Rick Beltinck said Consumers Energy has been called to make sure there are no live wires on the scene.

Audible crackling and humming could be heard from the damaged power line.

Students who live in apartment complexes on the roads will be allowed to enter their homes, but other traffic will be diverted till further notice.
