Keene sets new career-high in 106-103 victory at Montana State

The nation’s leading scorer was it again Wednesday night.
Junior point guard Marcus Keene brought his impressive scoring with him to Bozeman, Montana where he scored a career-high 44 points to lead the Central Michigan basketball team (9-3) to a 106-103 victory.
Keene — who leads the NCAA with 31.9 points per game — shot 13-of-27 from the field and 5-of-13 from 3-point range. The San Antonio, Texas native added 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Youngstown State transfer has tied or broken his career high three times and has gone for 40 or more points twice this season.
The Chippewas shot 50 percent as a team (31-of-62).
CMU has now won five of their last six games and has yet to lose when leading at halftime.
Senior Braylon Rayson added 16 points of his own on 4-of-11 shooting. The back court duo is the top tandem in the country, averaging 48.4 points per game.
Junior Luke Meyer put up a season-high 10 points, while freshmen David DiLeo chipped in 11 points off the bench on 3-of-9 shooting.
Montana State guard Tyler Hall did his best to match Keene’s play. Hall scored 29 points on 8-of-22 shooting, including 5-of-14 on 3-pointers. Big-man Benson Osayande added 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
The Chippewas have nine days off for holiday break and will return to Mount Pleasant on Dec. 30 to play Chicago State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
