CMU looks for revenge against Buffalo
Senior guard Jasmine Harris earlier this season said that she believes the Central Michigan women's basketball team can get back to the Mid-American Championship game.
“As a team, I would like to see us get better each game like I know we can and grow into the MAC championship team we are capable of being,” Harris said.
Today, CMU will take on the team that took away the championship from them last season on a buzzer beater.
The Chippewas (10-4 overall, 2-0 MAC) will take on Buffalo (11-2, 1-1) in a rematch of last season’s MAC championship game.
CMU has won both of it’s opening conference games by double digits, and a lot of that is thanks to sophomore guard Presley Hudson.
She scored a career-high 36 points against Kent State in the conference opener, and than followed with a 35 point performance against Kent State. Hudson now leads the team in scoring at 17.4 points per game.
Buffalo on the other hand isn't coming in very hot, as they have lost two of their last three games by double digits, the most recent loss came to Ohio by a final score of 83-55.
The only Buffalo scorer that averages double digits is senior guard JoAnna Smith at 13.8 points per game while shooting 33 percent from 3-point range.
So for a team that doesn't have many big scorers, CMU will need to avoid turning the ball over and giving Buffalo easy buckets. While they have forced their opponents to turn the ball over 15.5 times per game, the Chippewas themselves have turned it over 14.7 times per game.
The game will tip off at 1 p.m. from McGuirk Arena.
